Nick Hebditch (born 1959)
Nick Hebditch has long been fascinated by architecture and buildings, so the subject naturally led the painter to visually-enticing locations such as Venice, Paris, Barcelona and the South of France, and, nearer to home, London’s River Thames. He has depicted everything from weathered walls or doorways to the wider views of several buildings through to cityscapes. He has presented bridges and buildings lining waterways and harbours, including amongst other places the Grand Canal and The Seine. In London works, Nick has produced a series of larger-scale pieces in his ‘Thames at Night’ series, not to mention daytime scenes that remind the viewer of the artist’s unerring fondness of the Mediterranean.
The artist’s passion for colour has resurfaced in recent times, as presented in oil paintings focusing on looser compositions emphasizing colour, as well as in mixed media works. In the latter, Nick builds up images using collage and a variety of materials including acrylics, oil pastel and pencil. The end result with both is a fusion between the observed view and an interplay of colour, shape and pattern.
We have exhibited Nick’s work in France and in London to great acclaim.
